Image Juxtaposition and Connotative MeaningInsomniaThis design explores the experience of insomnia through signs and collage, blending desires, fears, anxieties, and emotions into a visual narrative. Using two contemporary colors and a green monochrome palette to evoke delusion, the images—sourced from magazines from 2005 to 2014—are layered with lines, shapes, and forms to express the disorienting sensations and moods of sleeplessness.
ILLNESS
I use a length of fabric and multiple layers to represent the passage of time and the days wasted. The fabric and layers show how time passes, representing how each day fades away without being noticed.

PARANOID
A hand is placed in front of his eye to represent his fear of dying from a lack of sleep.

ANNIHILATION
The hand placed over his head demonstrates that, in death, he has finally found rest.

Illness, Paranoid, and Annihilation, displayed together as a set.
